OXFORD, Miss.- For the past 27 years, the Ole Miss Chapter of Sigma Nu Epsilon Xi has raised over $2 million dollars playing annual Charity Football game to support victims of paralysis.  This year’s recipient is former Hoover High School and Harvard University football player Ben Abercrombie, who was paralyzed from the neck down after his first football game in college. Ben's story has been told through multiple outlets and he even appeared on College Gameday this past season.

Sigma Nu Epsilon Xi selected Ben to help cover medical expenses and establish a college fund so Ben can eventually return and complete his degree. We are excited to help Ben with his recovery.  If you would be interested in learning more about the 2018 Charity Bowl, we would love to provide you with any information or interviews about this year's event as well as this history behind it.

Charity Bowl 2017 raised over $150,000 for recipient Chris Madison and local organizations like Blair E. Batson and the William Magee Center for Wellness Educaiton. While Charity Bowl continues to be one of the largest Greek philanthropy events in the country, there is plenty of room for growth!

Ben Abercombie was a standout student and athlete while he attend Hoover High School in Birmingham, Al. Ben received a scholarship to attend Harvard University and play football. During his first collegiate game against Rhode Island on September 16, 2017, Ben went to make a tackle near the sideline and was unable to get back up.  He was rushed to a local hospital where they performed emergency surgery to repair a fracture and get pressure off of his spinal cord. Ben underwent extensive rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta until this January when he was fortunate to return home to Hoover and continue his recovery. Ben has fought hard during his path to recovery and we are honored to help him in his fight however we can.
