01-April-2017 (HHS) - Hoover High School's Math Team garnered big accolades at a recent state tournament against all high schools in Alabama. The school's Geometry Team placed 2nd overall; the Algebra Team placed 4th overall; and Comprehensive (PreCal and Calculus) captured the 3rd spot in the state.
Seniors Mariam Massoud, Andy Kong, Amy Zhang, and Jason Lee were named four of the top twenty overall math students in Alabama. Sophomores Will Couch, David Xin, Abhinav Venkatesan, and Shehzan Maredia were named four of the top twenty Algebra II math students in the state. Freshmen Abhinav Gullapalli (placed 3rd overall), Joseph Crapet, Isaiah Lee, Rahul Boddupalli, and Thanusrshri Srikantha were named five of the top 20 Geometry students in the state.
Martin Rushano, Ed.S, NBCT, serves as the Math Team Coach for these talented students.
"I want us all to congratulate them for a job very well done. If it is worth doing, it is worth doing well," Rushano said. "I am so very proud to be part of a school that excels in everything they do."
The Hoover High School Math Team has placed nationally over the years in events spanning multiple states.
