22-Sept-2017 (HHS) - Dozens of Hoover HS juniors were "pinned" in the annual Pinning Ceremony orchestrated by Hoover High School's International Baccalaureate program.

One of only twelve schools in Alabama offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, the International Baccalaureate Program at Hoover High School allows students to receive a world class, comprehensive education.

HHS became an authorized IB World School in 1997. Since its beginning, students in this program have routinely scored above the state, U.S. and worldwide averages on their IB assessments.

More than 3,000 IB schools exist worldwide, serving more than one million students in 147 countries.

To complete the Diploma, students take IB classes in their core academic subjects, a foreign language and an IB elective during their junior and senior years. Upon completion of these courses and assessments, students receive scores which may qualify them for the IB Diploma and earn college credit.

HHS students may pursue either the full IB Diploma or take individual IB courses.
