Nursing Schools Almanac is awarding its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. This scholarship is open to all U.S. high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN/LVN, ADN and BSN programs. This is a $1,000.00 scholarship

UAB Alabama Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Summer Bridge Program

Dates-June 2-August 11

Due Date-May 12, 2017

1.      Must be a minority senior in high school accepted to UAB for the 2017 fall semester

2.      Plan to major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics

3.      Have a H.S. GPA of 3.0 or greater

4.      Have and ACT score of 20 or greater

Each student will receive

1.      Six hours of paid tuition, fees and books

2.      Free campus housing and food allowance for duration of Summer Bridge Program

3.      Free tutoring and mentoring

4.      Access to Math Center, Writing Center, Sterne Library, and Campus Rec Center

5.      Stipend for successful program participation

Charles E. Sturgeon Memorial Scholarship

One award is given to a graduating senior who meets the following criteria:

1.     Solid student

2.     Excellent Character

3.     NEED

Must be enrolled in a post secondary institution for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Robert O. Finley III Foundation Scholarhip  
Due Date: 5/1/2017


Must be:

Any child of a Berry High School graduate

Participation in any athletic endeavor as a player, manager, trainer, or cheerleader

An overall acceptable GPA

Has been accepted into a school of higher learning beyond high school

Exhibit character traits in life which were so prevalent in the life of Coach Finley, e.g., character above reproach, outstanding citizenship, unselfish service to community, school and faith.

Herb Hanes-Bill Sparks Scholarship Fund

To qualify for the Hanes-Sparks scholarship, you must have:

1.     Participated in varsity athletics or in an athletic related activity (cheerleading, athletic trainer, dance team, etc.) at a Jefferson or Shelby County high school.

2.     Been accepted into a four year Alabama college or university

3.     Completed all required forms

Hoover High School Values Scholarship

Must be a current senior in good standing at Hoover High.

Must have a current minimum GPA of 2.8

Must be accepted and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college, university or career tech program

Must complete the application form and turn into Mrs. Petersen before April 14, 2017

The Blaine Marcrum Memorial Scholarship Fund

This Scholarship is being offered to a student who exemplifies Blaine’s positivity, kindness, joy, and how he embraced the differences in others.

All applicants need to write a brief essay on what kindness means to you, letters of recommendation from a teacher/faculty member, someone outside of school, and a friend/peer along with the application.

·         Open to high school seniors or college students who are legal residents of the United States

·         Scholarship payable to the winner who should be living in the United States

·         Student must enroll in semester beginning no later than September 30, 2017

·         Winner is not based on financial need

·         Home-schooled students may apply so long as your course of study is equivalent to a high school senior

·         Applicants required to submit a video (see “Make A Video” tab for details)

·         Student must be planning on or already enrolled in one of the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules
